2.   The Out of Towners [LIVE]
~Keith Jarrett & Jack De Johnette, Gary Peacock
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - August 30, 2004
Amazon.co.uk Review
Keith Jarrett's "Standards Trio" with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette has been so good for so long that they might be taken for granted, but this 2001 concert from Munich's State Opera shows their combination of depth and spontaneity can still surprise. Jarrett has a knack for...
3.   Music for Zen Meditation
~Tony Scott
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Verve (Audio CD) - October 1997
Amazon.co.uk Review
A celebrated jazz clarinettist in the 1950s, Tony Scott started collaborating with Japanese artists on a trip he made to the country in 1959; he returned in 1964 to teach classes in American Jazz, and ended up collaborating with koto-ist Shinichi Yuize and shakuhachi flute player Hozan Yamamoto on a...
4.   The Koln Concert [LIVE]
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - 1983
Amazon.co.uk Review
A musical chameleon, pianist Keith Jarrett was at his finest when he recorded these sustained solo improvisations in a German concert hall in 1975, the first lasting 26 minutes, the second 40. Melodies and rhythmic figures arise fluidly from his fingers as he moves from one idea to another, while...
5.   Anthology
~Pentangle
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Essential (Audio CD) - March 20, 2000
Andy Millward, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire United Kingdom, May 2, 2004
Unique & spectacular reinterpretation of the folk tradition
At face value, Pentangle created fine interpretations of British folk tunes, plus a number of well-judged originals adding to the richness of their tradition; some of those tracks might be seen by purists as popularising and possibly cheapening the genre, but most would agree that Light Flight, I've...
6.   Solomon's Seal
~Pentangle
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Castle (Audio CD) - October 27, 2003
A music fan, pershore, worcestershire United Kingdom, December 5, 2003
at last a CD release
This album from the latter years of Pentangle is one of their very best. It was originally released during the autumn and even now, to me, it still has that autumnal feel about it. This is summed up by the wonderful version of 'The Snows', often called 'The snow it melts the soonest'. This is Bert...
7.   Coruscating
~John Surman
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - July 31, 2000
Amazon.co.uk Review
Saxophonist John Surman is best known for such stunning overdubbed improvisations as Upon Reflection and Private City and for his freely inventive Stranger Than Fiction quartet. But he is also a composer of stature. His oratorio Proverbs And Songs made it onto the Mercury Prize shortlist in 1998,...
8.   The Vienna Concert [LIVE]
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - September 1992
Amazon.co.uk Review
It is permitted to disapprove of Keith Jarrett, despite the years of adulation which have accumulated behind his peculiar brand of virtuosity which somehow juggles spontaneity with an almost preternatural awareness of form. However, even his detractors can usually be persuaded to agree that this...
9.   Paris Concert [LIVE]
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - April 1990
A music fan, Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom, August 27, 2003
Some of the most emotional music I have ever heard.
This really is one of the most emotional music I have ever heard. To me, this CD is worth it for the 1st track only. I have quite a few of Jarrett's solo concerts, but this track goes a step further. The two other tracks are good (especially "The Wind"), but in a way do not go with the 1st track....
10.   Occasional Rain
~Terry Callier
Usually dispatched within 5 to 7 days
Universal (Audio CD) - April 13, 1998
A music fan, Edinburgh United Kingdom, October 31, 2003
Just Listen.....
Comparisons to David Gray would be valid if this album was by Elton John. Luckilly, it is not.

Ordinary Joe is a dance classic, not croontastic. And it's fantastic.

Callier has a body of work which can make you dance, or make you stop in your tracks.

Remember what Urban Species said when they sampled...

11.     Twelve Moons
~Jan Garbarek
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - May 1993
Jenn Patrick, Felixstowe, Suffolk United Kingdom, May 25, 2004
Fantastic modern classic
This CD is stunning, track three blows me away. I can't express how amazing it makes me feel, buy it and listen to all of the songs. Put track three on repeat!
12.     Codona
~Walcott, Cherry

13.     Making Music
~Zakir Hussain & John McLaughlin
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - July 1987
A music fan, London, August 19, 2000
The most perfect album I have ever heard
Genuinely beautiful, graceful, lyrical, calming. This is my favourite album of all time for good reasons. From John McLaughlin's wonderful opening chord, through the rippling Water Girl and moments of ecstatic musical discovery in Sunjog and Zakir. It's difficult to comprehend how the humble human...
14.     Belonging
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 2 to 3 days
Ecm (Audio CD) - June 1986
Amazon.co.uk Review
When Keith Jarrett debuted this largely Nordic quartet, he was in the midst of developing a US-based group of the same size with heavy leanings toward the approaches of Ornette Coleman and Paul Bley (even using veterans of Coleman bands). With the Nordic band, Jarrett was better suited to play...
15.     La Scala [LIVE]
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - June 1997
A music fan, Highlands, January 6, 2004
Emotional
I am always left emotionally drained when I listen to this recording. I agree with one of the reviewers above that the 13 mins to 24 mins of Part 2 are is some of musics most beautiful and emotional moments. It is almost as if at that point of the concert he reaches nirvana and shares it with you....
16.     Facing You
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 6 days
Ecm (Audio CD) - December 1985
Paul Clarkson (paul.c.clarkson@man.ac.uk) , West Yorkshire, January 8, 2001
Jarrett's first outing 'the shape of things to come'
I remember first hearing this first solo album by Keith Jarrett way back in 1983, along with the Koln Concert. Looking back, it is a peculiar album as each piece presents, in compact form, many of what were to be some of Jarrett's trade mark elements. It would repay anyone to buy it and return to it...
17.     What Colour Is Love
~Terry Callier
Usually dispatched within 5 days
Universal (Audio CD) - January 8, 2001
A music fan, Wimbledon Village, London United Kingdom, March 28, 2003
My first Terry album
This was my first taste of Mr Terry Callier. I remember putting the CD on and being mesmorised for nearly 9 minutes listened to the majestic 'Dancing Girl'. This is a truly epic piece of music which takes you on a musical journey into the sublime. The CD is worth buying just for this one track.
18.     Mudanin Kata
~David Darling and the Wulu Bunun
Usually dispatched within 2 to 3 days
Riverboat (Audio CD) - May 17, 2004
19.     The Melody at Night With You
~Keith Jarrett
Usually dispatched within 24 hours
Ecm (Audio CD) - October 18, 1999
Amazon.co.uk Review
Well, it's exactly what it says on the tin, perhaps--another album of quiet solo piano music from the doyen of quiet solo piano music--but there's an intense, rather spooky strangeness to much of what's going on here. The tone is set by the opening of the first piece, which focuses on slow,...
